About Jim

 

 

Jim Holton is a drummer/percussionist from New Lenox, IL. He has over 40 years experience as a performer and educator. He holds a B.A. degree in music education from DePaul University in Chicago. While at DePaul, he studied drums and mallet percussion instruments with Bob Tilles, and timpani with Al Payson from the Chicago Symphony.

Jim has extensive experience in a wide variety of drumming styles including rock, jazz, latin, classical, marching/concert band, and musical theater.

Jim remains active as an “on-call” musician/percussionist in the Chicago area and is presently drummer and timpanist for several choirs at St. Michael Church in Orland Park, and is also a percussionist with the Encore Concert Band based in Mokena.
